What is Art?

Art is an idea. It the idea of spelling out a visual or audial piece that entertains people, sometimes even inspiring other people with new and fresh ideas. Art is something that is worked hard on. It is something you have to be completely focused on. A typical art piece can either be enjoyed or ridiculed. If a piece is not enjoyed by the eyes of the viewer, the piece is ridiculed. If a piece is pleasing to the eyes of the viewers it is enjoyed. All in all, art is in the eye of the beholder. The artist has the ability to have different perspectives on what is created.

Art is either something that made the hard work pay off when you finished or something disappointing when the piece is done. Most of the time it’s the former. The person who created the art piece may feel accomplished after finishing his project, but may want to work at the details some more in the future. The artist may want to improve upon his craft he was already proud of because of criticisms relating to his piece.

Whenever I make something for an art class, the result fills me with pride. Although the piece may not seem perfect, I’m glad that it’s done. Sometimes the piece is something unexpected, or didn’t live up to my expectations, yet I’m still happy with it in the end. Many of the pieces I have created has garnered positive comments. It has also brought in the negative.

One time I made a recreation of a canal in Venice via digital painting and drawing. Before the finishing product, I expected the canal to beautiful and the buildings detailed. However, once my art piece was done my expectations were lowered. The buildings were not that detailed and the painting was flat. But I was glad that I got it done. Many other people seemed to like it too.

Art can mean many different things. It’s an idea that eventually gets on paper or through sound. It is something that you have to take your time at; pay attention to the detail. It should be pleasing to the eyes. Sometimes art is subjective, and the piece ends up not being liked by many people. But that’s okay. Other people may like your piece, other people may not.
