What is Creativity and Knowledge?

Knowledge and creativity may not seem like they go together, but these two subjects most definitely do. You should have the knowledge when creating an educational poster. Or you should know what you are creating and what sort of supplies you need. You may even learn while you create, such as learning a new skill while you’re drawing. Knowledge and creativity are both something that may not seem compatible, but they are.

You have to know the basics of whatever medium you are using in order to create your piece. If you start making something without a plan, the result of your piece may not make any sense to the viewer. Essentially, you should plan before you start making anything. That way you should know what supplies you need to gain the look of your art piece. Does your piece need a paintbrush? Should you use an HB or a 2B pencil? These are things you should know before creating your composition.

When creating any educational media, such as an educational video, poster, game, or program, you should know what the subject of that certain media before making your poster, game, etc. For example, if you are making a math poster with the times table on it, you should have basic knowledge of multiplication. Or when you are making a historical video about George Washington you should know things like the Revolutionary War. Without knowing the subject of what you are creating, there is no point in making that poster, game, or video in the first place.

You may even learn a thing or two about a certain skill while creating. One instance is when you are drawing you may learn on how to control a pencil properly or a new shading technique. That automatically means you gain new knowledge of a technique that can be applied later. Another case is while making a pot and the pot looks ugly after spinning it on the pottery wheel. You tell the art teacher about it and he shows you how to properly sculpt the pot on the wheel. You just gained new knowledge of a technique relating to pottery!

Knowledge and creativity go hand in hand with each other.
